OTHER NEWS.

New band appointment.
491 blues has now a new member. Not playing, but just as important behind the scenes. Hilary, Tony's wife, who has been at most of the gigs and taken loads of the photographs on this site, has agreed to be the bands marketing and promotions manager. Having recently started, Hilary has thrown herself into the role, making two new bookings already. Welcome on board.

NME Video
NME ( New Musical Express), has a web site (http://www.com), which includes a page that highlights music videos from You Tube. On May 24th some happy muso did a serach on 491 blues and it brought up all five of our videos. When we did a sarch on Google for 491 blues, that page cam up. This was the link, http://www.nme.com/video/search/491 but it has now been deactivated as they have updated the page. Don't let that stop you, find out all that is new in the music world by going to nme.com.

A man with a big heart.
Mick who runs the Vincent Bar in Stevenage, is really going to town with helping out those less fortunate. He has already had several days laying on bands to support various charities and raise funds to help seriously ill children. His latest challenge is to rasie funds for a terminally ill little girl to go to Florida for a holiday. So if you are a band and can give some time to perform contact Mick on 01438 741040, or if you like good music and can spare the time to go to 'The Vincent Bar', and support the event, please do.
The fund raising day will be Friday 9th November 2007, in the evening. The place, 'The Vincent Bar', The Hyde, Shephall Way, Stevenage, SG2 9QH.

Talk about popular !
We are all really pleased at the responee from our gigs and demo CD. As a result, we are now already fully booked through to the end of March 2008. So we apologise to those venues that have tried to book us recently, but we do still have plenty of room for you to book us from April 2008 onwards.

Band Standing - 'EAST' Magazine print an article about 491 blues.
'East' magazine, a magazine that helps you make the most of where you live, and covers East Anglia and some of the Home Counties, printed an article about us in their August edition. Make sure you get hold of your copy from local theatres, leisure centres and supermarkets to name a few of the venues and outlets you can get a copy. It is free.

ad News !
Charlie, our bass player has decided to hang up his shoulder strap and guitar and retire. He has asked that his last gig is The Rose at Biggleswade in September, so all of his fans out there, get along and say a fond farewell to him. We will all miss him and remember that he was a founder member of 491 blues when we were struggling to find our way four years ago. We will of course keep you informed of our search for his replacement.

Squirrel Hop !
We had a great time at the Squirrel Tavern on Saturday evening.Our second set started witha guest appearance by Tony's son Gary and his friend Jitters (James). Gary sang Roadhouse Blues by the Doors, while Jitters played the keyboard and the band backed this talented pair.

With the help of CafePress.com, we have launched our own shop. Here you can purchase all manner of merchandise from 'T' shirts to base ball caps, magnets to mugs and lapel badges to bags.

BEECROFT BLUES LIVE RECORDING.
The audience loved our performance especially some of our new original material. Dave - bass player and Phil - drummer, from Swing the Cat (see our links page), brought along their recording equipment and recorded the entire evening. We look forward to their production so we can update our demo CD and also look to issue our first CD for sale with our own original material.

BED KNOBS AND BLUES RIFFS
The band and the audience had a great evening at The Phoenix Centre in London on Monday 18th June. The gig, arranged through Post Office Ltd, was held to raise money for The Keech Cottage Hospice (Children's wing). With ticket sales, raffle and donations, £1053.00 was raised. See the article to the left, taken from the Post Office Ltd in house magazine 'FOCUS' June edition.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY !
How soon it has come around. On 4th May the band was 1 year old. We have come a long way in a year. From nothing to gigging regularly in a year is really great going, especially to be so popular and well received.

DO YOU LIKE VINCENT ?
We are pleased to support Mick the landlord at The Vincent Bar, The Hyde, Shephall Way Stevenage and his motorcycling friends, with an event to raise money for charity. Monies raised will go to three good local causes, Headway - a charity raising funds for the local head injuries unit, Shephalbury School support for autistic children and The Lister Hospital Stevenage. Entry will be via a ticket on the door on the day at £5.00. This will give you food from the barbecue, live music all day and evening from five different bands and of course the satisfaction of knowing you will be helping three great local charities. The event begins at 12 noon and ends at 11 PM on Saturday 7th July. Mick has lots of memorabilia on Vincent Motorbikes, so all you motorcycle buffs don't miss out.

OH MAN WHAT A NIGHT !
We had a great time on Sunday 18th February, supporting the 'Three Seasons Variety Show' in aid of charity. No doubt about it, we were the best act on the night. Great reception from the audience. We managed to get hold of some amateur video of the whole of our act and you will find it on 'YouTube' and links to the individual numbers on our 'Music / Video' page and a link to 'YouTube' on our 'Links' page.

PRESSING ON WITH THE PRESS !
Following the recording of our demo disc (see our 'Music / Video' page), we have sent out press packs to a large number of blues venues in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. As a result we are now starting to receive bookings. Check out our 'Gigs 2007' page for dates and venues. We are already fully booked for February and March so get in quick to guarantee we can perform at your venue soon.

DEMO CD RECORDED !
I am still on a high after last night at the Coach & Horses. It was a great evening.We all enjoyed ourselves and the band has been invited back in the new year for a repeat performance. In addition, we were recorded live last night by 'Jade Elephant Studios' and hope to have our first Demo CD out within the next few weeks.

ON TRACK FOR A CHARITABLE PERFORMANCE !
The band has offered its services to a variety show to be held at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage on Sunday 18th February 2007. The show is in aid of three charities involved in , Alzheimer's, Prostrate Cancer and Cancer Research.

WE GO LIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME !
491 blues played in the open mic session at The Greyhound Pub, High Street South, Dunstable. Asked to play in an earlier slot than booked, we went down a storm. We were immediately booked to play a full gig at The Greyhound on Saturday 9th September. What a great start.
